SCALING UP EBOLA AWARENESS

During the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Liberia, UNICEF supported the Government of Liberia by training and equipping thousands of humanitarian staff, community members, health workers and health volunteers to conduct door-to-door awareness raising on Ebola. UNICEF armed these volunteers with key messages and comprehensive training materials on Ebola about the signs, symptoms and preventive measures, as well as what to do if someone fell ill. Each health volunteer was equipped with t-shirts that clearly identified them as Ebola outreach workers. In this video, UNICEF staff member, Carolyn Kinderlan, explains the importance of this kind of inter-personal communication in the Ebola response and UNICEF's vital role in the effort.
